I have a fairly heavy modded game (roughly 120 mods) and starting from scratch it took me about 4 or 5 days to add the mods, clean them, get them in the proper order, patch them with wrye bash, tesvedit, reproccer patches, etc. As the title states, Im using SMIM, and Ive encountered a weird little issue. well, once you get everything set up, that is. If you goto and follow the videos i just linked, you shouldn't have much difficulty. It could be your load order, or a corrupt/dirty. If you are seeing neon purple objects, yes that does indicate that there is a missing texture somewhere. They were purple, seeing as that means missing textures.

These same requirements apply with NMM, but in there you will have to install, uninstall, update and reinstall files in correct order, where MO simply allows you to either merge or completely the replace the already existing file. It is made for MO, but explains the problem with resource conflicts quite well. I recommend that you both pay attention to video #8 in this playlist, whether or not you intend to move to MO or not. I am aware that SMIM author himself does not give direct support for MO, but this forum has plenty of peoples using MO and I dare to say that it has become the most popular mod manager around here.
